I think we would all agree that working with a vendor who genuinely loves what they do is infinitely better than one who is just looking to get the job done and leave. In Phoenix Warehouse 215 has had the pleasure of working with Impact Events many times. We can say first hand that they put their heart and soul into helping you plan the perfect event. They recognize the uniqueness of each client and work tirelessly to make dreams come true.
We had a chat with Rhonda Rush, the Lead Event Producer and Owner of Impact Events about everything they offer, as well as their experience with an up and coming event trend – taking Mitzvahs out of the bland ballroom!
How long have you been in the industry? How did you get started?
Impact Events is celebrating its sweet sixteenth year in the event planning business in Phoenix! It is has been very exciting and rewarding! I began my career in Los Angeles, working in the marketing/event planning/public relations sector of the entertainment industry. I returned to Phoenix (my hometown) circa 2003 to launch Impact Events.
How did Impact Events come about? What type of events does Impact Events specialize in?
As we have seen Phoenix continue to have record growth year after year, the scope of events have increased exponentially. Impact Events specializes in both the corporate and social event markets. Our diverse clientele provides us with a greater scope of creativity, productivity and execution. Our end goal is to make sure our guests have a fun and unique event experience.
How do you help the client sculpt their vision?
First and foremost, we are client-focused and spend a great deal of planning time with them. We provide our clients with initial start-up documents (i.e. “fun homework assignments”) so we can understand their vision. Once completed, we then present our “vision” board of ideas and then the collaboration process begins. We take great pride in making sure our clients are comfortable with every planning step and custom detail. To see our clients happy with the end result is truly the most rewarding.
Let’s talk more about Mitzvahs! We have seen first-hand the transition of Mitzvahs from ordinary ballrooms to actual event venues. And Rhonda has personally been a bit of a “pioneer” during this transition, and creating fabulous Mitzvahs that people just haven’t seen before.
What are some of your favorite aspects about planning mitzvahs?
We love producing mitzvahs – theme, menu, entertainment, décor and fun!!!
Tell us about one (or more) of your favorite mitzvahs that you planned
One of our favorite mitzvahs took place at Warehouse 215 (and I am not just saying that!)! We had twins girls who had double visions for their B’not Mitzvah — “Sweet Home Alabama” country fair scene and a lounge. We utilized ALL of your event spaces – starting in the courtyard for the traditional service, transitioning to the parking lot for the “country fair” (complete with a ferris wheel!) and then relocating inside for the lounge (with Dutch Bros. coffee kiosk)!
Have you seen any recent trends with mitzvahs?
We are not huge followers of “trends” rather we like to create “unique” experiences for our clients. At Impact Events we enjoy customizing each mitzvah/event as it is about them – no one else! We want them to feel special – from their grand entrance (helicopter landing anyone?), special hora chair, favorite signature cocktail, custom dessert bar, dance floor shape, edible guest favors, etc.
Do you have any tips for parents wanting to plan a memorable mitzvah that will set them apart from everyone else?
First, we recommend asking your child about their vision. Be sure to communicate and involve your child in the planning process as it is their event. Have fun with your theme and find ways to make it unique (have them design their own logo, etc.). Most importantly, have fun and enjoy – remember you never get this time back!
